Abzu was born from a desire to challenge the fundamental assumptions of contemporary AI, believing that the future of AI lies in the more lifelike simulation of self-organizing systems. Abzu is an international group of specialists within High-Performance Computing, Computational Neuroscience, Deep Learning, Mathematics, Physics, and related fields. Abzu is a private entity owned by the founding team. Founded in January 2018, Abzu is an applied research startup with offices in Copenhagen, Denmark and Barcelona, Spain. The startup derives its name from Ancient Summerian, meaning “the source of the waters of wisdom”. Abzu has raised a total of €2.9M, and last closed a seed round in July 2019 for €1.75M.
