Cloudtrail is important to monitor activities across multiple resources - such as programmatic changes that were made to resources or even bad actors since it fully logs all activities on AWS resources (such as various DBs).The biggest challenge with using Cloudtrail is effectively filtering for activity you're interested in. This is more from the nature of the problem than Cloudtrail itself. The thoroughness of the information being logged within Cloudtrail includes quite a bit of information that is not necessarily relevant for incident management.
